A short video of my middle son’s novel hiking technique.
Some kids are just tactile. And stubborn. And determined; he would’ve done the entire mile this way had we allowed it. Obviously, this moment isn’t exactly aligned with the “Leave No Trace” ethic (which we adhere to when warranted), nor is it to be encouraged on more delicate or narrower trails, but given the conditions on this section of the hike, we were okay with this approach.
